PDF Converter with OCR App Reviews

App is inconsistent and support is poor

I manage a lot of data and often need to convert PDFs to Excel. This app sometimes works very well and other times will convert a document poorly. I had one document that had five pages set up identically and the converter converted different pages three different ways. Not sure how that happens. There is a way in the app that you can add or delete lines in a table by right-clicking, but that feature is not working on my computer nor my co-worker’s. I emailed support and it has been slow and unhelpful. I received my first response at 2 am telling me to right-click my mouse despite already stating in my intial inquiry that that was what I was doing and that the function wasn’t working. Got another response, at night again, asking me to record a video of what I am doing. This is unnecessary. There is obviously a glitch somewhere where right-clicking, perhaps with Macs, isn’t working. I’m very happy when this app works, but mostly I’ve been frustrated.

Poor Conversion

I was converting a 15-page PDF document with regularly spaced tables to a DOCX in El Capitan. The results were unusable. One table was completely missing in the converted file. The top edge of larger fonts was missing. Many headings were incorrectly spaced with words divided in the middle.

Why This Is Well Worth Paying for What Was Once Free

My Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner used to have a free, bundled program that served my OCR needs for taking unmodifiable pdf law form files and converting them to Word where I then modify them in my law practice. I spent hours recently trying to reinstall scanner drivers and utilities, and then researching the internet to restore this functionality lost along the way probably to OS “upgrades”. The quote below is from the software manufacturer who blames the upgrades but is willing to sell me software for about $119.99 to replace the functionality of what once was bundled/free. I then spent too much time at the Apple Store looking at diametrically opposed reviews of several products before I took somewhat of a gamble on this product. To my relief this new software performed the functionality I need and is more user-friendly than my old free program at 1/6th of the price of the old software’s new “pro” version. "Thank you for contacting ABBYY USA technical support. I apologize for the issues you’re experiencing. Unfortunately, FineReader Sprint is a free bundled version of the software which is only available on the original installation CD that it came on. And FineReader 5.0 Sprint in particular, isn’t supported on El Capitan, so if you located the CD it would not work. If you’d like, you could purchase our standalone software for the Mac, FineReader Pro for Mac."

CHINESE language recognition needed

Hi ! This soft is great and makes a good job, but... Im waiting / longing for the chinese language recognition OCR support to be added to the actual list of already supported languages. Please... Urgent... Thanks. ;-)

satisfied with the program

There are times when i want to convert some PDF documents into a word document do some editings, but it seems some normal PDF converter cant do this work as I want, the word document cant edit! After some searching I got that as there are scanned PDF and normal PDF files, some program can cant convert the scanned PDF to editable documents. Tried this PDF converter with OCR from its website, worked, so purchased it from the store, and still be happy and satisfied that it.

Pretty good for the price

Ive tried several different PDF converters with varied results. So far, PDF Converter with OCR is working better than the rest in terms of its abilty to create editable MS Word documents that keep most of the formating of the original. I played around with creating some of my own scanned PDFs (manually scanning MS Word documents with a combination of text, tables, and graphics to PDF) to see how well they converted back. I got mixed results. There werent any problems with the text or the graphics but there were a few problems with the tables. Converting PDFs to MS Excel also didnt fullly maintain the formating of the tables. The problem seems to be if there are big gaps in the tables text such as several empty cells or empty/blank columns. That being said, it works better than other converters available in the App Store that Ive tried so far and, for the current sale price ($12.99), it serves its purpose. I will give this App 5 stars when the problems I described are fixed.

Very slow

Purchased this application to convert PDFs. Very slow conversion rate and has crashed two of the four times I have attempted to use it.

Excellent.

First download your trial software on Enolsoft site and then decide. It took me only one test to buy. I scanned in PDF a price list and within minutes I had two documents, one in .docx and the other in .xlsx, which were easily usable for their final purpose.

Garbage - PDF rendering to Word and/or Excel is a mess

This is a terrible product. I want my money back. This product is no better than simply copying and pasting text. Word doc rendering is a mess Excel rendering is useless

Program Me Saved Hours of Work.

I needed a cost effective program to convert a pdf scanned table into an Excel spreadsheet with good OCR performance. This program did an exceptional job taking a poor scan with small text and producing a 98% accurate spreadsheet. Excel spell check finished the job in a few minutes. This program solved my problem without spending $400 for Acrobat.

Disappointed

Tried to convert a list of names, addresses, DOBs from a PDF into Excel. It converted a 6 column page into a two column spreadsheet. Then tried to convert PDF to Word then maybe I could convert that into Excel. Never made it past first half of the page before creating its own columns at random places. Im usually pretty good at this stuff but maybe Im not doing something right. I had high hopes.

PDF with graphics worked

First I just want to convert some PDF files for e-reading on my Phone. I love reading on my Phone, but the screen is just too small and blurry to be useful for PDF files, so got this program to convert my PDF document to text and read on my Phone. Last time, would like to get a PDF file that contain graphics to be used in word, and this pdf converter worked really well for me! The graphic are keeping consistent as the original and its editable. This program claims can convert to as many as 8 formats, would try one by one later. So far, its wonderfull!

worked well for me

I have been looking for a PDF converter program and this one has everything I wanted! whats important is it did great jobs, converted the PDF documents well to all the output files supplied: word, XLS spreadsheet, powerpint...

Mr.

I used an online servcie. I should have stuck with that, but that required a monthy fee. This app just doesnt convert to exel files that way I need it to. To converty my PDFs to excel, I first have to convert them to Word docs. Then copy and paste into a spreadsheet. That still isnt effective though. Ive spent most of the day trying to get this thing to work right. I might just have to pony up the monthy fee for the online service. I gave the app two stars for effort, but it doesnt do what I need.

Did well

I have to say this is a cool PDF conversion program, it allows to mark out the text, tables and images manually, and the output to word, rtfd, excel, html files(so far I used most) with nice quality. Yeah, it did well to extract text from the images too.

ocr!

It does work well. At first Im not sure about OCR, but tried this program, it did recognized every word and tables on image pdfs and extracted the contents for me with good layout. And it very powerfull that offers so many language choices to convert from.
